This is actually for my g/f. We plan on going to Niagara Falls in late August and if possible, would like to go to the Canada side. I have a passport, she doesnt. Unfortunately, she just had her license renewed earlier this year. Its not verified.

So my question is, if she has all the right documents, can she go in and get a verified license without a renewal notice? I have tried to call the DMV and well, you know how that goes. You cant get a hold of a person to talk to. So I was hoping someone here might know.

Not from DMV, but just curious so did a bit of on-line research.

According to The Enhanced Driver License Explained at DMV.org: The DMV Made Simple CT is NOT one of the 4 states that do "Enhanced Drivers Licenses".

According to Canada it is not valid for entry into Canada anyway, only good for return to USA, and then only by land or sea, not air.

If you have the time, and money, there is this program NEXUS Program Description - CBP.gov It does look like a bit of a hassle, unless you plan on visiting Canada (or other nearby foreign countries) often.

Otherwise there is the passport "Card" process at U.S. Passport Card

Good Luck, and welcome to the post 9/11 era of International travel

Just say you lost it and need a replacement, and would like to be verified

Gathering the paperwork is always the hard part for me.

I dont quite remember, but I thought your first replacement was free and after it was like $60???

Yes, I believe it's $30. I asked the Milford DMV office about it when I went there last.

She doesn't have to tell them she lost it. Just needs the proper ID to get it verified.

If she doesn't have a passport, I believe she'll need a SS card, birth certificate (original), and a few pieces of unopened mail addressed to her.

Is there a AAA near you? The fee is $30 plus $2 fee for non-members. I was in and out in under ten minutes and that $2 is definitely worth it. I have had nothing but LONG waits at the DMV, even for trivial things.

Or go to one of the smaller satellite offices. There is almost never a line at the Milford DMV office. In and out in minutes.

Good to know. The closest DMVs to me are Winsted and Waterbury. Winsted isn't open everyday and isn't a 'hub,' so some services are not available. AAA is 15 minutes from me and a breeze.

If the satellite offices are near you and convenient, make sure they offer the services you're looking for before you go there.

I do believe the satellite offices have the same services as AAA.
