Well, it finally happened...my air conditioner died. There's a leak somewhere in it, and it needs to be replaced. There are so many companies to choose from, and I never make good choices in general ... so I would really appreciate if you kind folks could recommend an honest, reputable place to purchase a new 3 ton Trane unit. Thanks in advance

Legacy Air. I have used them for 4 years. Honest and an owner who works along side of his employees. Check their reviews on google and yelp.

Don't pick Goettl, terribly overpriced and mysteriously find many things "going bad" that really aren't bad.

Get a bid from Bob’s Repair heating 702 381-5080 and cooling they have done a number of nextdoor members in the Seven Hills area. You might check reviews on there if you are a member. Whatever you do get at least three bids and pay attention to the actual brand, size, model, and efficiency.

Make sure too that whatever they want to sell you is actually in stock at time of purchase.

Be sure to let us know whom you actually go with and what product you bought.

I replaced three Trane gas packaged units from Sun Country Heating and Cooling. They were honest (they did a load calc and said I didn't need a 3 ton, only a 2 ton), installation was perfect (which is very important), timely and overall very professional. If you go to Trane's website, they are their certified provider.

Are you SURE you need a replacement rather than a repair?

Do most A/C units in Vegas come installed with electronic air filters, or is it a separate option? How much do electronic filters typically run?

No, typically they do not. The units are in the $600 range, depending on the size. You'd need a probably 3 hours of an HVAC guy to install a new one.

I've had 2 companies come out and look at it. First one said there's a leak, but they are not allowed to repair the old r22 units, and that I need a new one. Second place came out and put coolant in it, but it leaked out after a week and was blowing warm air. The unit is original to my home which is 25 years old. Definitely need a new one.
Looking for a Trane 3 TON SPLIT Heat Pump Full System 14 SEER.
