I have a brother who wants to join me in Nevada, and I am listing all the pros of his coming here, but not sure about car insurance costs. This is his truck:

Brand new 2008 3/4 ton Dodge Ram 2500 model number, diesel engine 6.7 liter, 4 door quad cab short bed

Full coverage for a year. Any ball park figures or do you know where I can find out? Thanks a lot.

What?
That doesn't really help at all.

It's gotta be better than Taxachusetts.

GEICO and Progressive will both give you some quotes along with a few from competitors.

I don't know what MA is, but NV has some of the highest insurance rates around. I would guess it won't be cheaper, but compared to MA probably not much more. I'll take a stab at around $1500 a year IF he has a flawless driving record. Accidents and speeding tickets would probably up that at least a $1000 or more.

Oh, and he will have to pay probably about $600 to register that vehicle, annually, but it will drop some after a few years.

But doesn't MA have a high income tax? That would be 0 in NV, and property taxes range from about 0.7% to a little over 1%.

Rent will be cheaper. I can't imagine a scenario where his cost of living would be higher in NV, unless he has a problem with gambling and hookers.

I just bought a new 08 expedition, after all of the discounts for safety equipment, alarm, associations, etc I am paying $1800 per year, through Geico and only 1 traffic infaction in the last 3 years

Since the wife and I are planning on moving to PA in the foreseeable future I decided to get a quote for that state, and with the same coverages I will be paying $1100 a year

Thanks a lot, all of you. I know car insurance was high, just didn't know it would be that high. The lack of state income tax helps, though.

try farmers insurance.. my quotes for Ohio - full coverage $750 deductible - for 2 YES TWO 2008 Scion XB's - no incidents for my wife, 1 speed for me = $985 FOR BOTH for a year.... i had geico and aig previously.. what a ripoff.

I pay in full once a year and also have my homes covered.

I talked to my insurance agent about this when I started looking at moving to Vegas, and they quoted me $700/yr on my brand new 2008 Nissan Rogue. That was on 15/25/15 collision/liability/uninsured motorists. I've also got comprehensive with a $100 deductible. I told them I wanted to relocate to Vegas and they called me back with a quote on transfering what I had. This is all from Allstate. I'm 26 and have 1 speeding ticket that is a year old...clean record after that.
