With a meter drop of $3.30, an LAS pickup fee of $1.80, and a charge of $2.40 a mile in $0.20 increments, how could ANY fare amount to $188.00?

Sheriff has a point. It is virtually impossible. Can you scan and post your receipts? You can remove anything that identifies you.

Maximum credible fee I can see based on very bad behavior is around $100.

Anything more than this requires a rigged meter.

Default Brain Freeze

After you asked your question - I went and searched for my receipts - and feel so foolish....The receipts were $88, and $78 dollars, respectively.
This is what happens when you spend too much time in the wintery NorthEast. Sorry. I do not know not what happened to my brain.......Sorry....

If you think you are being over charged GET A RECEIPT! There are Nevada laws that Taxi drivers have to take you to your destination in the shortest/fastest route possible. You can file a complaint as mentioned in this thread if you have documentation.

When my husband first moved here he was charged $26 to go from McCarran to Motel 6 on Tropicana. The driver claimed to not know how to get there and took him up near the Stratosphere before looping back down. Then of course he didn't have change for $30. When my husband protested the driver began yelling that he would call Metro if he didn't pay the fare. Of course he paid, just to get on his way, but unfortunately he didn't get a receipt and was obviously scammed.

This just happened to a friend of mind the cab driver charged $188.00 from airport to Pecos and Alexander. The when he refused to pay the driver called the police and they said he had to pay or be arrested because it is now a civil matter. He now has to file a complaint and take them to court to get his money back. A "taxi cab authority employee" came out also and stated that the cab fare was fair and just. Go figure.

I believe you. Was the cab driver Elvis or Bigfoot?

I think we have a Taxi Driver on our forum here who may chime in with a dead on number for you.
If there is this $20 surcharge what would you recomend. I am flying in from Manila on March 30th. I am staying at the Luxor for three days to rest before flying on to charlotte nc. I can be in bed in Vegas before the next flight out of LAX goes to Charlotte. anyway, what is my best option to get to the Luxor from the airport in the early evening about 9 pm
