Hey Folks,

I'm coming to Vegas to check out some real estate and get some sun. A gentleman on this forum told me about the great rates at the Orleans. I went to their website and noticed they have great rates at the Gold Coast, as well. Any advice for a swm, early 40s, sports/horse lover? (won't be going to shows or entertaining kids).
Thanks everyone!

We always stay The Orleans and have never been disappointed. Each room is actually a mini suite. We have never stayed at Gold Coast, so can't compare the two.

PS...hot waitress outfits at The Orleans....almost thong-like.

both the orleans and gold coast are out of the way.. between the two, i would take the orleans, otherwise depending when you are going you can get some deals.. the golden nugget downtown is running bargains.. the stratosphere is affordable.. personally i like mandalay bay (right now $89 a night during the wk)..

airics is spot on about being a little out of the way. That said, I love the Orleans. Rooms are HUGE, clean, smoking rooms smell good, and a 20 cab ride to downtown Ceasars Palace. GREAT GENTLEMEN's CLUB RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM ORLEANS THO.
Definately some great deals on Strip Hotels and somethink like Mandalay Bay for that price, I'd splurge a little and spoil yourself.

Default Shuttles

Both are out of the way, but if you need transportation to the strip, the Gold Coast is a very short walk to the Rio, a Harrah's property that has free shuttle service to the other Harrah's properties (Paris/Bally's, Harrah's, Caesars, Flamingo). So it's not as inconvenient as it might seem if you don't mind a 10-minute bus ride.

My husband and I like both of them alot. The Orleans is much bigger which we like a little more but if the Gold Coast is cheaper then we stay there.

Where are the properties you are planning on looking at located? If they are on the west side of town (particularly the southwest) then the Orleans actually would not be out of the way. Given the choice, I would take the Orleans over the GC.

I stay at both places often. Both properties have a shuttle to the Strip. The Orleans is bigger, with more bars and restaurants. It has a larger sports book with a nice bar behind it so you can sit at a comfortable table and watch the races and games. As mentioned previously, there's a strip joint across the street.

The Gold Coast is smaller, and the gambling is just as good as the Orleans. Rooms are smaller, but quite decent. The smaller sports book is good, but the adjacent bars are not as conveniently located. I prefer the Orleans in this regard.

As a fellow SWM in a similar age bracket, the Orleans cocktail waitresses do have sexy outfits and many are very attractive. The Gold Coast waitresses can be a bit hit-or-miss, however it's across the street from the Rio and the Palms, and it's a very short walk to both. The waitresses in those places are mighty fine, and both places have very nice sports books. The Palms is a serious party casino, and there are a ton of gorgeous party girls going to the clubs at night, and running around the casino.

If you want to stay in one place, or are a dedicated sports gambler, the Orleans is the better choice. But I've enjoyed my many visits to the Gold Coast just as much.
