We are looking for some recommendations for a road trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles taking two days to make the trip. What are some sightseeing things to do and any recommendations on unique places to spend the night.

Not much between here and the SB Valley. I would Make it a three day trip and spend a day in Sequoia National Forest. Beautiful drive once you get to the foothills, and you'll go right through a huge windmill farm on the way.

Try Posting in the LA forum, you might get a better response from people who live there.

ditto.

its only a couple hour drive though, but if you are making two days of it, drive in through DVNP (from the north or east) and come out the south way down by Baker.

calico ghost town (near yermo) is kinda cool if for no other reason than chucker running all over the places (not sure about this time of year though).

you could easily kill some time driving through the Mojave NP between the 15 and the 40. (kelbaker rd would be a good start...leaves outta baker area heading south)

depending on how adventurous you wanted to be you could even head down to the 10 cutting thru joshua tree.

not sure what the roads are like now, but you could also always just head up to big bear area and stay up there for the night.

don't really know about lodging as i have always camped it.

You will need about 10 minutes to stop and look at the World's Largest Thermometer in Baker - it's on the way during your trip. Also, there is the Route 66 Museum in Victorville and the Harvey House in Barstow. There are outlet malls at Primm (stateline) and in Barstow if that's your thing.

Otherwise, two days is kind of a long time for what is generally a 4-6 hour trip (depending on traffic). If you just want to kill two days, drive most of the way and then drive out to Palm Springs/Joshua Tree, stay there for the night, and then make the 2 hour drive into Los Angeles the next day.

Yeah, it was pretty boring (going to Cali from Vegas) the stateline area was okay...nothing special. Good luck on your road trip and have fun!

Are you asking about stops along the way, or are you asking what to do in Los Angeles? There is a lot to do in LA. There is also a variety of things to see along the way if you just want to tool around in the desert, or mountains. I've been going to LA for over 40 years and have barely touched the things to do there.

Thanks to everyone for their very good suggestions. We are just spending the night in San Pedro before getting on the Mariner of the Seas. I agree there is way too much to do in LA.
