My friend lives near Ann Rd, and Camino Al Norte in the North and upon visiting several times, I would be comfortable living there. I have noticed some gated housing communities have a community pool, so you may want to look at that option as well.
Good to hear you like it out here, but once summer hits you will long for the Buffalo weather again lol....its funny how it works out.

Default location

Realtor gave us following locations:
4743 E.St. Louis Av past Boulder Hwy

3935 Autumn St.W. on Trop from 95

We heard these are questionable areas.

Anybody have opinions??

Thanks

Both locations look kinda run-down and old. You can google earth the addresses and see them for yourself.

I don't know the area over there that well anymore, maybe someone else can chime in with that.

But in my opinion (only opinion) I wouldn't buy a house there.

Autumn Street is in a great area, there's good shopping and good restaurants nearby as well as the freeway, that section of the East Side is great...

East St. Louis is not as desirable as the Autumn Street address...

Default Where should you buy?

Ya know, this question is the most frequently asked, and there are 100opinions for every question. This is my humble opinion. Nobody should buy a house in Las Vegas until they have lived here long enough to get to know the town. At first try to get a month to month rent/lease on a house or apartment. Don't worry too much about where it is...it's all good. Well, almost all, anyway, but a month to month will help you get out of it if you don't like the neighborhood. Then they should get a realtor, tell him or her what they'd like, and let the realtor do the search. Then the realtor should drive them around and show them what he/she has come up with. They can't steer you from a neighborhood, but they can give advice, and tell you what to expect. It doesn't cost you a thing to use a realtor to buy a house. Just make sure your BS meter is working so you don't get someone who only wants to make a commission and couldn't care less if you're happy. I have dealt with a lot of realtors, and have seldom found one who wasn't honest and helpful though.

Another of my brilliant opinions...I wouldn't buy a house in any zip code in Las Vegas with a number less than 89128.

I agree for the most part, but would make exceptions for 89117, 89123, parts of 89113, and most of the Henderson zips (which are 890 numbers).

If you want to live in the northern parts of Las Vegas, for example, I'd look further west than 89142. Try the Aliante or Centennial Hills neighborhoods instead. 89084, 89131, 89130, 89149, etc. should all be okay.
I would also add 89166 to that list. Especially if schools are important to you. Providence is a nice community that is still in the developing phases.
