Hi I looked up Twitchell school wich were going to be zoned for and it had great ratings actually 10 out of 10. Is there anyone who's children have gone to this school if so whats your opinion of it? I am considering public schools for a few reasons, my son was in a private school last year and it was just a disaster. So we are looking at public along with private schools. Twitchell has looked really good to me on paper but I'd like to hear from people who have worked for or had there kids in the school.

I remember when I was younger we were moving to a new neighborhood. My mom went to the PTA meetings at couple different schools to see which one seemed more involved with the kids and thats how she chose which area of town to move to.

Also, the test scores can be a bit misleading. It all depends on the teachers, level of involvement of parents and the students willingness to learn.

Yes I do agree aacole, thats why I want experiences. A school can have great test scores but be a rotten school and the other way around. Alleyn I dont mind paying if the schools right for my son, I have nothing against either type of school it all comes down to whats right for him. Aacole do they do PTA meetings during the summer? Im kinda new at this my son is going into the 1st grade and hes my 1st born.

Twitchell and its twin are two of the top five schools in Las Vegas consistently. The neighborhoods are made up of upper middle class strivers climbing the ladder quickly.

The bad news is that they are overcrowded. You are safe for this year but not next...

My kids attend Twitchell and I have been very satisfied. You do realize that it is a year round school - right? Also, the kids wear "uniforms" which consist of khaki or navy pants, light blue, white, navy, or maroon polos/shirts.

It is overcrowded. CCSD tries to fix that. I don't know whether it will be next year or two years or three years but they will eventually rezone to relieve the pressure.
