im relocating mid september from new england
how should i go about finding a rental property
i have been looking on cragslist but i dont want to get scammed
should i contact a realtor and tell them exactly what i am looking for
what is the best approach

You can drop me a DM with your specs. I will send you an electronic set of listing that you can look at.

I won't neccessarily show them to you. But they all have signs that tell you who has the listing and you can get them to show it to you if I am not available.

Normally it is very hard to rent more than 30 days out. And the half life of a listing is less than 30 days so it is likely you need to get serious in mid August.

Try both. I have had good success with craigslist, but sometimes going through a realtor is the way to go. If you are smart about looking at craigslist properties, and cover all of your bases, you won't be scammed.

When I needed to move and fast I called these people that I found in the local phone book...I can't remember who I spoke with in the office but she was really helpful...I told her what I was looking for and what area I wanted to live in...she gave me the name of 3-4 apartment finders to look at and called ahead to tell them I was going to be viewing the apartments...there was no fee to me...the apartment complex you move into pays them...give them a try...I got into a nice quiet gated community at a price I could afford in the area I wanted to be in...I was real happy...Best Rent Finders (702) 222-2288

realtor.com is the best I have found. You can do the "map view" which is great to narrow searches down. These are almost exclusively realtors. Lots of pictures which is great.

Contact a realtor - our rental property will be listed with realtor/property management - Give them your requirements - etc... and of course you can check realtor.com
