My parents are there, staying at the Stratosphere Hotel, and they just saw a dead body be pulled out of one of the lower roofs. Like there was a hole in the roof, a pool of blood, police, firefighters, a body bag, the whole deal.

They want to know what happened, so I called the hotel and they know nothing about a dead body, but there was a flood on the main floor.

Anyhow, I don't expect anything to be on the news right now, but where should I look tomorrow to find out what happened?

The Las Vegas Review Journal is the only likely place. Note however that suicide by jumping off a tall building here is not particularly rare or news worthy.

To make the serious mention in the paper you would have to land on Mayor Goodman or another of our high muckymups.

The RJ is at...

how about its none of your business, but I think if you call Metro or the coroner, and you describe it explicitly, they may tell you.

thanks for your help, this is what I found:

LAS VEGAS A man has jumped to his death from around the observation and ride level of the eleven-hundred-foot-tall Stratosphere casino tower in Las Vegas.
Police say the man fell through a roof of a structure just south of the tower, smashing some sprinkler pipes.

A spokesman for Las Vegas Metro Police says the man jumped," and "there was no one where he landed."

The man had made his way onto a beam before jumping this afternoon.

Fire department crews were dispatched to the scene to retrieve the body. Police are interviewing witnesses and trying to determine the man's identity.

The city leaders or is it the casino owners think it's bad for business to let us know when people take their life off of the Strat. It seems to be really popular for suicides. Not long ago, a tourist jumped to his death from one of the rides. Just unstrapped himself and jumped.
I can't imagine how anyone could do that! Their life must suck pretty darn bad to kill themselves like that. Or they just gambled away their life savings and couldn't face their family. Geez.

The Luxor is another popular jumping off spot. Any big hotel is really. Someone mentioned awhile back someone jumping off the MGM grand somewhere and landing right on a gaming table in the casino. I wonder if the patrons keep on playing when that happens or what.

Police reports like that are public information and we do have a right to know about incidences like that. Of course the name of the dead person would probably be withheld.

When I worked at the police department, I often had the local newspaper come in and ask for information and of course it was given to them.

The people who decide to kill themselves in a public place MAKE it other people's business in my opinion, lvkewlkid.

I completely agree...its not like I don't have sympathy for anyone that feels their life is so bad that they can't stand to live anymore but honestly, if you or a family friend is staying somewhere and the police surround the place, its human nature to want to know what is going on.

I have never been to Vegas but I can only imagine that kind of thing is not unusual for them.

Ahhhh, Vegas. The poor guy probably gambled his whole life savings away and thought the only way out was suicide... thats not uncommon in Vegas. Truly, truly, truly sad.

These people that off themselves in ways like that, if they would just stop and think..there are always ways out, they just have to be honest and face their family and friends. But most think that what they did was so heinous, like gambling away their life savings, the house, etc, that nobody would want anything to do with them anymore, but i bet it's not the case. Unfortunately, it's too late after they decide to take the leap.

Hoover Dam is another jumping off spot.
