Just wondering, when all is sAid & done, has anyone moved
To L V because couldn't afford cost of living in CA but
Ended up liking Vegas better?

I live in the San Bernardino area of Cali now. It used to be referred
To as one of the "armpits" of CA. it is hot & smoggy
July- early oct. we get as miserable as Minnesotans do
After April blizzards ( enough!).

The coastal areas are more temperate but it costs $1200/
Mo to rent 1 bdrm in a 2 bdrm apt. Roommates leave;
Californians think 1 year is a long time to stay in 1 place.

It's a slower pace out here & overall I like it better than
Trying to drive & live in coastal areas.

Went to MN 2006-2010 for family reasons & it was so humid.
Climbing up & down snow banks @ 45 is not the same as 22!
People wanted to know why I moved there, is my sister married
Despite the fact she uses maiden name. Why was I single,
Who has the best casserole dish?

Sometimes the busyness of CA is hard. ESP on relationships
But I really missed the " no one cares enough" attitude while
Living in MN.

CA is a fiscal disaster. Special funding (taxes) up to $3000
For one mtg @ school for special Ed students. I am disabled
& understand special needs but my county has declared
Bankruptcy. Out of control. Yet the homeless problem is huge.

Liked Vegas better... no way
Liked Vegas just fine... yes indeed.

based on climate and scenery... not on traffic, over crowding and taxation.

Don't miss the crazy traffic and the amount of crazy people in cali. Also crazy high property taxes.

Miss the ocean, clean air near the beaches and rain once in a while not 4 days a year. Also diversity of LA's good food, not just your hotel shi shi poo poo restaurants.

Born and raised in L.A., the only reason I stayed there so long is because my immediate family is there and they refuse to leave, but it's one of my least favorite cities I've ever set foot in (second only to Salt Lake City)

Living in Vegas is much better but I still wouldn't call it "good".

I've lived in towns & cities in Australia that are just absolute paradises compared to LV

Thanks. I don't make it to the coast much now.
Had my years of walking almost alone (in nov)
Along Coronado beaches. Don't do it anymore.

I adore living in Las Vegas...I also adored living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Long Beach, Irvine & San Diego [20+ years]; each place has its own merits...I enjoy/enjoyed each for differing reasons. I don't miss working 60-70 hours weekly but I do miss daily walks around Shelter Island Park in Point Loma [generally the yearnings for the latter occur July-August ]...

We live in the Inland Empire in SoCal....And we can not wait to retire and move to Las Vegas....Hate Cali for a number of reasons all having to do with the state and its policies and people.... Lived in Colorado for a loooong time and hated it as well.. Same reasons as Cali.....

We know Vegas is NOT perfect and I have lived all over the USA, but figure for the cost of living and what you can get out of it It ain't a bad place to settle down....

Where else can you get a decent steak dinner for almost nothing, gas for under $4 a gallon, and not have to travel 70 to 100 miles to enjoy something..... NOT CALI!!!!!!
