Am I the only one who cringes at the god-awful names the nightclubs in town seem to be lumbered with? Perhaps this is because the thought of going to one of these places ranks up there with consuming a few gallons of paint thinner on my "fun things to do" list, but if I see another place open up with a cooler than cool monosyllabic name I think i'll throw up.

About the names: who cares? If I have a good time at a certain place, I go. If not, I don't go. The name, to me, means very little (if anything at all).

I absolutely HATE the nightclubs here!! This is one area where Phoenix/Scottsdale absolutely blows Vegas away in. In Phoenix, you can come early and avoid cover charges. Even if you come later, they only charge $5-$10. Also there usually are good drink specials, especially early. You can also sit down, and NO SMOKING is allowed inside! In Vegas, you have to pay $30 to get in. That is after you wait for an hour or two in line. Then, you stand around in a crowded place with severely overpriced drinks with clouds of smoke everywhere. I have been to a few out here that people have gotten me into for free such as Studio 54, Rain, Polly Esters. I never lasted more than 10 minutes before leaving. That is how much I hate these places.

I like those one syllable names. The names are the best part of them. Very fitting as well. I certainly wouldn't enjoy hanging out in them, but I do like the names of them.
I wouldn't go to any of them, as they all just SOUND way too pretensious...and for some reason, I just imagine guys in suits on business accounts sitting around all over the place, with hired entertainers dancing above the dance floor...and your random women who appear through the door being quickly pounced upon like a sheep in the lion's den.
The names "Supercalafragelisticexpialadocious" or "Splat" would NEVER be able to charge the $50 per guy (free to any girl) entry charge that these places seem to thrive on. It's really ALL about what brings in what very few girls are willing to subject themselves to the scene...and that's about the bottom line to them.
Women won't think drinking in "Supercalafragelisticexpialadocious" or "Splat" is worth it, and men won't pay $50 entry fees (or whatever they charge) to sit in a place with those kind of names.
