Note that the beat up fixemup on Copper is listed for a million dollars. Not bad for a large but uninhabitable house.

The neighborhood suffers a bit from the down hill areas. And the schools are a problem. But there are still a nice set of estates up that way.
Trust me, I drove through the entire neighborhood. It used to be nicer. Honestly, if I was choosing to move to the Las Vegas area, I would seriously consider living there because it's very nostalgic to me. I'm really not knocking the area. It for sure has gone downhill though.
The fact that a 10k sq. ft. home next to other upscale homes has been completely trashed by vandals would be reason for concern for me though! I'm really not trying to trash the area at all or offend anybody. Some of my best memories growing up took place in this area when I would go visit my grandparents. To reiterate, I used to love coming here. I'm just surprised at how things have gotten though. Based on the fact that a luxury home has been trashed by low-lifes and the fact that my grandparents old home looks like s*** from whoever currently lives there (I was actually tempted to knock on the door to see who's living there, but my wife wouldn't let me) I'm just surprised that a nice neighborhood definitely seems to attract some sort of low-life element that really drags it down. There definitely are some undesirable people who come through there and it's really sad. I was really bothered by it since I really feel an attachment to that area. I'm not trying to trash the neighborhood, but I'm just giving an honest outsider's opinion from somebody who used to be an insider.

That phenomena occurs everywhere...particularly on isolated homes. The home owner runs into financial problems over a span of years and lets the house slide into disrepair...it eventually becomes outdated and virtually unsaleable because of the needed repairs...it is basically lived into junk.

My financial adviser and friend picked up his wife's mother's place for free in the Palomino Circle area. $300,000 later he had a livable home.

I checked the homes surrounding the Copper home and found them to be in excellent shape.

I know of at least a half dozen similar situation over the years in the NW, SW and Section 10. Isolated homes are more likely to pick up vagrants and vandals. Often the kids in the neighborhood declare such a house haunted and do a lot of damage.

So it is simply a thing that happens...not a problem with the neighborhood.
