So my hubby and I currently live in salt lake, utah. We've been recently thinking about moving to vegas. We are expecting our first child, and need a place where its a great family area. I've been to vegas a lot, but hubby's never been. So we're going there in may to hopefully make our decision. Here's a few of our main reasons for thinking about moving there: We have a pit bull and nevada allows them (where as utah is getting worse with the banning), its not freezing, and we can't stand utah. It'll also be nice because we're close enough our family can still visit.
So what I need to know is where are some good communities to move to? We were looking at The Fountains at Flamingo aartments, because they're nice, and their pet policy. We want to live there for 6 months- 1 year before getting a house. So anyone know of those apartments? and wheres some good places to check out?

Thanks!

Please consider that Clark County has one of the worst school systems in the country before you move your family here. It is one of the reasons we are considering leaving Vegas. Unless you are prepared to pay12-15K a year for private schooling.

That is untrue.

But cite a source. Note we are discussing CCSD not Nevada.

I actually do a lot of work with breed specific legislation organizations and nevada has banned any cities/counties from putting bsl into effect. So nevada, texas, and california are states we can move to.

Nevada appears to rate above CA and just below AZ. Though that is a state rating...not a CCSD one.

YOu want to eat your incorrect view now or kick it around some more?

You are in fact incorrect. CCSD is a large school system and better than most....large school systems that is.

Schools in Clark County School District, Las Vegas, NV - SchoolDigger.com

If you have time scroll down to the bottom 10 or 20 schools in each section (element....4 thru 8...HS) and you will see that Clark County schools make up the majority of the bottom 10%. Im not picking on CC just stating and supplying facts. We are notorius for having a bad public school system. There really is no debate

reviewjournal.com -- News - GRADUATION RATES: Universities come up short

And it does not get much better at the higher levels as we are at the bottom in graduation rates also.

You keep changing the subject. Yes there are some awful schools in Clark County. There are also some very good ones. But that is not what you said...

You said the CCSD was among the worst in the country. It is not.

Again there is certainly room for improvement. That is a long way from the worst.

It is simply not true, has never been true and will likely never be true. The schools of the SW US are relatively weak but in general CCSD is better than any of the big CA districts. It is also better than much of the rust belt and also NYC.

You should be careful offering opinions like this that you are unable to defend.

To say that one should be careful about schools in CCSD is a fair observation. But to simply dismiss it as "worst" is also hopelessly incorrect.

if there is a bad school system you just need to be on your kids more .. be there helping them studying together.. and keeping the family tight.. and they will learn all they need. If you leave it all up to the schools alone yes, the kids will fail.
