Curious if anyone had strong opinions on this. I'm going to be staying on the strip for a few days over the long Memorial day weekend, and going to a couple shows (KA and BMG), and dining out, and was wondering at which hotels should I self-park, and which ones should I valet during a busy holiday weekend. The valet wait can get very long on a busy weekend.

For instance, self-park at TI seems to always be faster than valet, as you can park fairly close to the pedestrian bridge, then it's a short walk, down an escalator, and another short walk to the guest elevators. Valet is almost always fast at any of the local's casinos (Red Rock and Suncoast for me). Valet at MGM Grand is faster when it's not busy, as the self-park is so far away, but I've waited 30 minutes for my car on a holiday weekend.

I'll be running back and forth between my house and the strip all weekend, so there will be times we need to drive to our destination; leaving the car parked the entire time and just walking to every destination isn't an option.

I always find that self parking is faster. Especially on busy, holiday weekends.

I only valet when I know I'm going to be at the prop until late in the evening and I am alone, self-park is my preferred method.

My theory on getting to MGM, is to park at NYNY valet, walk across the pedestrian bridge to MGM and hang there. Valet has always been busy whenever I've gone there, and in the 20 minutes that I wait for my car (understandable being a huge hotel), I could have walked across to NYNY and picked up my car from their valet. I always do the garages at Harrah's, Planet Hollywood, but use the north valet at the Mirage as it's quicker and located right across from the parking garage. Not many people know about that valet. You can access it from Spring Mountain Road at the light where the Fashion Show mall is, or use the Treasure Island entrance nearest the Mirage, and go straight back, and then turn left at the end. It's alongside JET nightclub. At Mandalay Bay, i use the front valet as the back is sometimes backed up and if you're not in the right lane going in, it's almost impossible to get into the valet line near the taxis....

Palazzo and Venetian garages are both pretty quick in and out....Caesars always seems pretty empty and easy in/out. Same for Mirage, which is a good central location if you are walking about.

Hard Rock garage is a lost cause.

USE THE SELF PARK....I USED TO WORK FOR VALET...YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT GOES ON. Seriously self park your car or have it heavily insured.

I heard recently not to leave your house keys on your keychain. Your registration or other personal information is probably also in the car, so take your house key with you.

I put all my keys on these quick disconnect keychains, so I can quickly separate my car keys from everything else, and leave just the car keys with the valet.

Yeah, weekday vs weekend is a definite variable.

I was at Aria on a Saturday night and it took about 20-25 minutes to get my car back from the north valet. Went back this past Wednesday and I had my car in about 2-3 minutes.

I always self-park at Wynn cause there's always plenty of parking and the garage is very convenient to the poker room (or vice versa).

Welllllll? Don't leave us hanging like that. Stories, man. We need stories. Do they steal? Do they wreck your car? Whattttt?

I do know it came out when I was on a jury, that at a famous local restaurant, during the Spilotro days, they were making dup keys and giving them to the old Hole in The Wall Gang. I bet that still goes on at some places. Be a waste of time if they came to rob me though.
