Is anyone familar with I-130? I'm petitioning for a parent based on my citizenship. That parent is currently in the US visiting legally. While the petition is pending, does it matter if she leaves the US? I don't think it does, but somewhat related, how should I answer question 22?

I believe that if you file I485 at the same time (petition to adjust status), which you should, then your parent must have received their advance parole document if they want to leave during processing.

So it sounds like once your application to adjust status (I-485) is pending, you need a special permission to leave and come back.... (I-131?)

Not sure what can go wrong if we do I-131, but if we were looking for the most straight forward process (not neccessarily the fastest), then would it better to start I-130 when my parent is back in the home country, stay put in the home country until I-130 is approved, then come back to the US, and file I-485?
