So it sounds like once your application to adjust status (I-485) is pending, you need a special permission to leave and come back.... (I-131?)
Not sure what can go wrong if we do I-131, but if we were looking for the most straight forward process (not neccessarily the fastest), then would it better to start I-130 when my parent is back in the home country, stay put in the home country until I-130 is approved, then come back to the US, and file I-485?
