Depending on where you are coming from you will most likely be given a 90 day visa to travel in the USA. If you overstay the visa you are breaking American federal law and can be deported and banned from re-entering the country.
Oh from Canada? As in you are a Canadian citizen, or do you mean something else? I believe there's some special visa for Canadian citizens who want to work in the USA. You should look into it if you are from Canada.
