Hi all,

I would like to move to Europe. I have pretty much lived in California my whole life. I have a BS in biology and have been working as a biologist for the State of CA since I graduated college in 2011. I am 25 years old. I studied abroad in Spain and Ireland and would love to go back. I am tired of going to my cubicle everyday and listening to all my middle aged coworkers talk about retirement. I own a VW Westfalia also. If my plan to move to Europe doesn't work I plan on traveling across country in it.

Has anyone else successfully made a life in Europe? Ideally I would like to start so,e type of business that allows me to travel back and forth between California and Ireland/Spain.

FYI I already have an Irish passport because my mom immigrated to California from there so I believe that makes me a citizen...

If you have a current Irish passport you have free access to live and work in all the EU countries. You'll need to do some research and see how your US degree translates to European requirements and how the job market is for each country you think might best suit you. You can "make a successful life" anywhere but don't expect that things like those, "middle aged coworkers (who) talk about retirement" are indigenous to the US workplace - they're everywhere!

You're right, I shouldn't pick on my coworkers.

Just go travel for a few weeks... I like having an Irish passport because it's access to the whole EU and it's really quick to go through immigration etc. but I don't think now is a good time to move to Europe as many people are actually leaving EU to find work elsewhere

Yea, good point..... I'm going to Dubai for New Years so hopefully that will quell my travel bug.. but I still don't like being stationary working in a small town. I want to travel for my work.. I have applied for jobs in San Francisco, if I get to work their maybe it will fulfill my international aspirations.
