HI everyone.
I'll be moving to CT around mid-September. A job is waiting for me there. It seems like I need a SSN to do pretty much anything (from open a bank account to register a car...)
Knowing that I'll be there under a H1B visa, how long should it take to get my SSN?
Thanks
Get an appointment as soon as you can (walk ins can expect to be there for two or three hours, depending on the office). After you submit the application, the SSN card will come in two to three weeks in the mail.
You do not need a SS# to open a bank account. W8 and providing SS# once it is issued will suffice.
