I am from the United Kingdom, and my son, who was born here and lives here, has the right to claim his British citizenship. He could become a dual citizen as I understand it, but I'm wondering if there is a downside we have not considered, as far as taxes or possible service in the military is concerned. Does England have a selective services as the US does, and would he be subject to it even if he's never lived there? And if he ever did move to the UK, might he then owe taxes in both countries?
