Back where I used to live in NC, we had a thing called the Salvage Shed at the county solid waste drop-off site. If you had something that you wanted to get rid of, but it was still functional, but maybe not high-value or good-condition enough for Goodwill, Craigslist, or Freecycle, you could bring it to the salvage shed and other folks could walk off with it.

Example items would be old bookshelves, kitchen utensils, books, children's toys, containers, tools, knick-knacks, etc. One time I found several boxes of pottery.

Is there anything like that in the Lehigh Valley area? Basically a drop-off/pick-up site for functional items with minimal overhead.

That sounds great, but I don't know of any place like that around here. I can see where someplace like that would be very useful. We take things to the Salvation Army and if it's something of minimal value but we don't feel like hauling it to SalVal, we'll put it out at the curb early in case someone wants to pick it up. I surely don't know everything about the LV though, so I hope someone else can add their two cents.
