Allentown paid content: The Morning Call announces digital subscriptions - mcall.com

Ugh! Guess I'll be getting my news from The Express-Times and WFMZ.

Pocono Record began to charge for website access and I haven't been back. Not worth it, IMO.

That's a real bummer. We subscribe to the Morning Call 7 days a week but I often pass on a link of an article or an obit via e-mail to friends. I guess if we paid for the on-line access, I could cut and paste articles to send, but, jeez!!

I like reading the Mcall, Its nice to be able to 'keep' up with what's happening since i moved from the area. But, I'm not going to pay to read if I go over there 10 a month (or 20/30 if i read some from work).

But I dont blame them, The print addition (of all papers) are die'ing and they have to make some money somewhere. But other paper that have done pay digital editions, have closed or gone back to free online, you can't charge for ads on the online edition if no one goes there.

The Morning Call is a worthless piece of garbage. I will not pay a bloody cent for access. I will not read it, and will not miss it.

Agreed with flyonpa .. barely anyone reads the actual paper anymore. I still do! I'm 23-years-old but still go through the paper. I've been told that I'm pretty rare to be doing that. Of course, internet-use is the most efficient way to get any information out, including advertising.

I guess $2.49 a week doesn't sound too overly crazy, until you realize that they offer $49.99 for half a year. All that loose change adds up!

This will turn out to be several more nails in the 'Call's coffin.

I read it online almost daily, but will not be paying. When I think about it, they don't even post half of the articles/content from the paper edition on their website, and I doubt that will change. If I'm going to pay, I would want the whole thing.

Patch.com has better articles on local "police blotter" type stuff. The 'Call has mostly abandoned reporting on this stuff, especially online.

I also read the Express Times online, and will continue to do so. Although they have more of a Easton/Bethlehem focus rather than the Allentown/Bethlehem focus of the Morning Call, I think it's a better paper overall.
