Mod cut - Please note that this thread was started in 2007.

First I'd like to say hello to everyone in this forum. I relocated to Bethlehem in this summer, due to my hubby's job. Both of us are chinese and we have a one year old baby boy. Is there any chinese community nearby? Any information will be very appreciated.

We have quite a few Asian families in Southern Lehigh and I know that some of them are Chinese, but I'm not sure if they know each other or of a gathering place. My daughter is in China right now and will be there until August. She is teaching English and learning Mandarin. We'll be visiting in April. What part of China are you from?

At one time there was a Chinese language school that my friend went to every saturday. I would call the Bethlehem or Allentown library reference desk and ask them if there is a Chinese Community Center. Lehigh University should have some information for you also.

Hi Mindie,

Good Morning and Welcome to Lehigh Valley. Some of our friends send their kids to Hua Xia Chinese School. It sounds great. We will let our son try this summer, as only child above three can be enrolled.

Any question do not hesitate to send me MSG.

Appler2006 and Mindie,

We're moving to Allentown this summer too. Can you recommend a nice pre-k program and apartment? Thanks!

Hi zhang11,

Nice to meet you in this forum. For pre-k program, I sent my son in a 4 star rating daycare in allentown. We have very happy experience. If you are interested in that, please send MSG to me. For apartment, may be just pick up some place near western allentown or macungie, it will be fine. Any question is welcome.

Default Lehigh Valley Chinese Community

Hello - it is nice to see how many new people we have moving to the area. I run a non-profit that works with new people. I would suspect that one or two of you are a client. I am trying to learn more about the Chinese community here. I am aware of the school at Northampton Community College as well as several Chinese churches. I am also aware of a men's basketball group that meets on Sundays.

Perhaps it would be prudent to organize a gathering so people could meet. Perhaps a new meet-up group using that app.

If any of the responders have been in the area for awhile, I would appreciate any insight you might offer on your experience the Lehigh Valley and how Asians/Chinese are received.

I think it is rather scattered in terms of where people live, but is there a community group of any kind besides churches.

Appreicate your help!
