So it looks like we will be moving from Atlanta to Northern PA. My husband will be working in Fairfield NJ. I would love to hear any feedback on possible areas to live. We would like to keep the commute to an hour. Looked online at Easton, Stroudburg... Schools and quality of life (meaning a nice place, not too rural) are priorities. Thank you in advance!!

When are you moving? 3-6 MONTHS
Where are you coming from? Atlanta
Why are you moving? Job
Where will you be working? Fairfield NJ
Have you been here yet? No, but my husband grew up in pa many years ago

Will you buy or rent? BUY
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? HOUSE; under $325
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend?
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up?

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married, 4 year old
Do you prefer public or private schools? PUBLIC
Do you have pets? Dog
Do you want or need a yard? Prefer a yard but not required
Are you keeping a car? Yes
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Suberb in a metro area is preferred- used to Atlanta

What do you want to be closest to?
Work- understand it will be a commute
Shopping- i like to shop
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
Nightlife
Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? I welcome diversity

There really is nowhere in the Lehigh Valley/Easton area that will get him to Fairfield, NJ in an hour or less. I'd say an hour and 10 minutes minimum, plus traffic, assuming the home is in extreme eastern Northampton county near Rt. 22 or 78.

East Stroudsburg/Delaware Water Gap will be over an hour during rush hour traffic. If he works weird hours it may be doable in an hour or slightly less. Meaning he leaves home before 6am or after 9am, and leaves work before 4pm or after 8pm. Route 80 east in NJ is packed in the morning and 80 west is packed in the evening.

Agree. OP, try the Hackettstown NJ area. It's reasonable and is within an hour of Fairfield, even with traffic. If you value schools more, stay in the Hunterdon Couny school district (not Warren County).
