Time to plant some veggies and flowers. Last year I did all Heirloom tomatoes and frankly, they just didn't turn out that well. I'll do a couple of heirlooms but want to add some traditional as well as some cukes and peppers. I also need some flowers for two front door planters. Where should I go? Dan Schantz or some place else?

Dan Schantz is good. I also like Somerset Nursery in Zionsville (formerly Nancy's Nursery). Here's the link to their website Somerset Nursery Zionsville Garden Center Allentown Garden Center, Zionsville Nursery Gilbertsville Garden Center Barto Garden Center Bally Garden Center Emmaus Garden Center Macungie Garden Center Lehigh Valley. I think they've got a good selection and good pricing.

Ah, yes, I've been to Nancy's. I didn't realize it changed it's name.

I like Herbein's Garden Center just south of Emmaus (about a mile and a half from the intersection of Cedar Crest and Chestnut St) on Route 100 for flowers. Dan Schantz has a better selection of veggies in my opinion. My most favorite flower and veggie place is Meadowview Farm in Kutztown. Tons of tomato and pepper varieties, plus the usual cucumbers, herbs, and quite a lot of flowers. We were just there yesterday and they had a great selection. My son also enjoyed seeing the llamas, horses and cows on the property. Let me know if you want the address for Meadowview.

The real red hot chile peppers -- -- themorningcall.com This is it, isn't it? I see yucky weather for tomorrow (I work in the afternoon anyway) but Thursday looks to be a good day for a short road trip. Thanks for the tip!

I am a HUGE Fan of Hickory Grove in Catty. Little Pricy but they always have someone to help you and they know more about plants and growing then one should really know. Plus everyone is nice & friendly over there.

Is this it Jeff? Home Looks like they have flowers but do they have vegetable plants too? I really wanted to get out today but am afraid I have to do yucky housework instead.

That is them, I would call to double check about the vegtable plants. I think I remember seeing them, but honestly they have so much stuff and chasing 2 kids on top of shopping - I could not remember.

Yes, that's it! The farmer, James Weaver, is super knowledgeable about his seedlings. You just tell him what kind of flavor/heat/recipe you are looking for and he'll take you right to it. I didn't know about the chile festival until I read the article. Looks like something my husband would love to go to!
