I am 21 and want to move out of my parents house to an area within 15 miles of lexington. I have a job opportunity that pays $9.50 an hour and its 40 hours a week. Do you think i could survive living on my own? I dont know how much they would take out for taxes. Thanks!
Well, what other bills do you have? Are you ok with staying in a smaller, older studio or one-bedroom apartment that includes utilities? What is your current budget for entertainment, transportation, groceries, etc...
There are a lot of factors that come into play. Could it be done? Sure, if the rest of your budget works out.
I agree with nlschr0. It depends on what kind of lifestyle you desire. If you're willing to have a tiny place and not be particular about the location, and you're willing to give up other "luxuries", then you could. Also, as a 21 year old single person, you might want to consider picking up a part time job for some cushion. Part time jobs are typically easy to find around here.
Yes, it can be done....depending on what other expenses you may have. You can look into apts. that offer all utilities paid, or a studio. Good luck to you.
My girlfreind and I worked and went to college and probably made a little over 1200 a month and did fine. We didnt have the best apartment complex but it worked. It's important to budget and stick to it, do got eating out alot. Might not be able to get cable TV, you can do it you just have to watch how you spend your money.
I was looking at houses and I found one for 60k that the payment would only be $280 a month on. So that would be more economical than an apartment? I do have 10k to put down on a house. I cant work more than 40 hours a week xD I need some fun lol. Im pretty low maintence as far as expenses go, just me my dog my car and whatever expenses I would have with the house. I can do without going out and eat food from the dollar store.
Apts. --- stay away from Kirklevington Hills on Kirklevington dr./ great price/ crappy mgt./mold growing in apts. I moved out 3 months ago and still can't get my security deposit back.....
Well if you can buy house more power to you. However I think you'll need insurance to cover everything and that could be expensive, and I dont know what utilities would cost.
Can it be done? Sure! Prioritizing is a big part of making it happen, though. We're a SIWK family, and my husband makes $10.24 an hour. I stay home with our two girls. It's not easy, but it's possible.
