Question about wood paneling

I had wood paneling in my dining room and kitchen areas. I just painted them. Mind you, it took a while because it was so dark (I painted them a very light beige) but it now looks like that walls are wood plank like in a country house. I love it!

I've been using spackle on some of the places where there is a clear indent between sheets of paneling. If worse, I use that sort of wallpaper stuff that is specifically made to hide paneling or other problems with walls. It was about $10/roll at Lowe's and you have to buy some wall glue. It's actually working out quite well. I can't remember the name, but it's not wallpaper per se - it's completely flat and is in the wallpaper department.
