Hey guys! I'm currently a senior at Auburn University (graduating this May) and have considered moving to either Louisville or Lexington because I have heard nothing but great things about both areas and would love to start my 'adult' life in a new place. I have heard that Lexington is not the greates place for young professionals, would y'all agree? I would eventually like to settle down and get married and I know that the U of Kentucky is in Lexington so I doubt that would be a problem... and that's also why I'm confused that someone would say it is not a good area for singles. Anything you could tell me about the area would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I did this as a young single - moved "home" to Lexington after college elsewhere. Problem was - everybody already had their circle of friends that they made in college. After college it gets more and more difficult, especially as people start to marry off. I don't know how to explain - it's just not that great a place for young single professionals. [I got out, I worked it, kept an open mind..... but can't say I would recommend it to another.]

Now for young MARRIED professionals, it does fine. Trick is getting from point A to point B.

Louisville doesn't have this awkward transition - there is a better singles scene, more nightlife, etc. I don't know of anything Lexington has that Louisville lacks.... go for Louisville!
