People should shoot the cameras, just make sure you dont do it from your car.
I was in the intersection of Old Country Road & 109 making a left when the light turned red. The system flashed and took my pic (unless someone else ran the light) but I did not get a ticket (4 weeks ago) so maybe the give left turn vehicles a break.

There a hit here in Newark. The only ppl complaining are the crazy suburbanite drivers. People in the City want more of these Cameras , if they been that successful in Newark , i can't imagine what will happen on LI.

Newark red light cams catch more than 20K motorists, make $500K in 5 months

Either that or the camera is not aimed properly or was "serviced". If you google it, over in Europe, the locals are helping out with "servicing" those cameras, even to the point of repainting them free of charge.

I just wonder how long it will be before the cameras here are "serviced" free of charge.

From my previous research and experience in getting the ticket, yes. I have learned that the yellow light must be 1 second long for each 10 mph. For example NYC speed limit 30mph=3s of yellow light.

After receiving my ticket I did return to the traffic light and timed it. It was exactly 3s of yellow. I was guilty.

Suffolk saw all the $$ Nassau was making on these things and decided to "follow the leader". The next rumour is Suffolk County will have the MTA to take over the transit system and merge it into Long Island Bus.
Back in the stone ages when drivers ed was invented, we were taught about stale green lights. If a light had been green for a while as the driver approached, the driver should be prepared to take necessary action should the light turn yellow.

It's not a perfect rule of thumb, but if more people exercised a little more common sense approaching an intersection, there might not be as many people running lights.

I'm not kidding. One guy has a site where he shows pictures of damaged cameras in Europe. Some are spray painted over, some are set on fire, some have been attempted to be knocked over.

I should add that I think over there the fine is more than $50 (not sure what that is in Euro) and I think points on the license.
