My parents are looking into moving to Nassau County and I'm trying to help them out. Which are the best neighborhoods that are affordable for the $800K range? They're looking for a relatively new construction (0-5 years) in a quiet, well-maintained neighborhood with sprawling front lawns that is also close to the major highways. Their ideal home is 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms.
I've been looking around on DanielGale.com, but there aren't that many great listings available for that price range. What other realty websites do you recommend?
There are about 1,500 neighborhoods on Lawn Guyland!

There are 2 cities and 13 towns (as well as 2 Indian reservations) in the bi-counties and the 13 towns (3 in Nassau and 10 in Suffolk) are further sub-divided into 96 villages (municipal corporations) and 195 hamlets (unincorporated areas), yielding 293 communities (2 + 96 + 195 = 293), and each of these 293 communities include anywhere from 3 to 7 neighborhoods within its borders.
In case you are unfamiliar with the local geography, I've sent you an explanation of the very, very confusing geography of "Lawn Guyland" as a DM (Direct Message).
It's going to be tough to find a new home for only 800k in the "best" neighborhoods of Long Island...especially if you want a "sprawling" yard. Very tough.

Walter, could you possibly DM me this explanation?

I understand that, but I meant the best neighborhoods for our budget of $800K. Not the best neighborhoods in Nassau County in general, just within our price range. Thanks.
New Construction in Nassau is not easy to find, particularly in that price range. Nassau County is pretty densely populated and built up, especially near highways.
A "Sprawling Front Yard" is subject to interpretation; for some a 1/4 acre will offer enough sprawl; others may need a minimum of 1 acre.
Going with the 1/4 acre minimum, here's a good start, I think:
Jericho, Manhasset/Manhasset Hills, Old Bethpage, Rockville Centre, Roslyn/Roslyn Estates/Roslyn Hts, Syosset and Woodbury.
All have the size house you stated, are fairly or very easily accessible by highway or major roads and fall into the price range of $700-$850K. Should give you enough to get started
If you need more, let me know...
P.S. Big Oooops - Just realized I didn't include the "recent construction" in my search, that brings it down to ONE in Old Bethpage :-(

Elke, other than both having "Manhasset" in their names, there is no connection between the Hamlet of Manhasset and the Hamlet of Manhasset Hills.
Geographically, separated from each other by the Village of North Hills, the two hamlets are in separate school districts (Manhasset is partly in the Manhasset Union Free School District and partly in the Roslyn Union Free School District, while Manhasset Hills is in the Herricks Union Free School District).

Thanks for the suggestions. What website are you using to search?
