I haven't been to the LI Game farm with DD yet but I found the Animal Farm Petting Zoo to be a bit of a waste for my then 1 year old. The zoo was smaller than the one at Holtsville Eco Center.
Atlantis is nice, we took our DD at 7 months. She was a bit too young for it, most of the things were geared towards the preschool sect. The only part she really enjoyed was the ray pool where you can pet/feed the rays but that alone wasn't worth the price of admission.
Honestly if you're going to be in the area and are looking for a good activity, I still say Holtsville Eco hands down. They have a mini petting area with goats, picnic benches, a playground, and a zoo full of rescue animals.
I will look into the Holtsville Eco. Thanks for the suggestion!
Although my daughter would probably like the cardboard box best (LOL), we need a place for a family outing that she can enjoy with her Great-Aunt out in Suffolk.
You can try White Post Farms off Rt 110 in the Huntington area. My 2 year old loved it. They have the normal petting zoo animals plus some animated characters, a few rides and they make some really good sandwiches.
The trip to the Coney Island Aquarium from Levittown would be much quicker than to Atlantis Marine World.
Levittown to Coney Island is about 30 miles/45 minutes
Levittown to Riverhead is about 55 miles/1 hour.
We are meeting her Great-Aunt in the Riverhead area that day because she lives out there, so we need something in Suffolk. Coney Island would not suit our needs for that day.
Holtsville Ecology is nice and you can feed the goats. Long Island Game Farm off exit 70 is much nicer but at a price. You can touch the little pigs, baby chicks, and deer, also the giraffe. I also would suggest the Riverhead Aquarium. My kids loved the colorful fish and touching and feeding the stingrays.
My daughter loved the aquarium at that age. I also would reccomend Whitepost farms in Melville. They have many other activities besides the animals.
