My mom grew I up in queens Village, her old house is still the same except there are bars on the windows. It's a shame how much that neighborhood has changed. It used to be very nice when I was kid. My mom lived there from age 6 until she got married at age 25. She lived across the street from saint Joachim & Anne Catholic school, she also attended there.

It was a lot worse in the 80's and 90's than it is now. If real estate values keep on heading up in the city, QV will be swept up as well.
My Family and I recently moved to the area. We live in a nice home on Hollis Court Blvd. North of Jamaica is nice. But Jamaica would be a great area for new businesses to start up again. During the 80s-90s crack epidemic, many neighborhoods went to the dogs, but now home ownership is something not to be taken lightly and is a huge investment for most. Therefore, a new generation with a newer/better mindset will cause neighborhoods to get better and cause the small businesses to thrive.
