Any Islander fans here have any reaction to Trevor Gillies getting 10 games for nudging this doof who slammed a rookie face first into the boards 5 seconds earlier?

I am an Islanders fan. He deserves it. Cheap shot forearm to the face.

Fair enough though debatable that it was worth 10 games. Why though wasn't the hit on DiBenedetto even addressed (which technically made Gillies shot not so cheap after all..he's protecting a kid 2 games into the NHL)

Probably gave 10 games because he is an ex-Ranger!

Exactly. I watched the hit 10000 times. Yea he hits him high with the glove to the head but 10 games??? I mean really, the kid (DiBenedetto) has his back turned and Clutterbuck shoves hinm right into the boards, a very dangerous play for head as well as neck injuries and not even a call. But here comes Gillies doing his job and the whistle blows immediately.

I don't like how he is trying to tone down hockey. Bring back old school hockey.
I believe some hits are deserving of suspensions, but c'mon, every little thing gets scrutinized now.

Totally agree. It's the nature of the sport. Protect your better players. With that in mind, the tougher teams always won. Now it's a skating game with shootouts and ballerinas.
