I am in Seaford - where is the best and most economical place to buy seedlings (vegetable and flower) and when do you usually plant? When is the last frost? I am thinking mid-April but since I am so new to this stuff I wanted to ask.

thanks

I love further east on the North Shore (Sound Beach). I lost a bunch of stuff to frost in late April last year.

The average date of the last freeze in Suffolk (South Shore) is April 15th...but I would give it another wee or two if you are planting whimpy stuff. Heartier veggies like broccoli and cabbage can start earlier.

I was told by a Master Gardener to use Mother's Day as the cut-off for the last possible frost...

this is about the perfect time to start planting in your yard. I started 2 weeks earlier in pots and have finally started seeing some results. If you dont have the patience to seed, plant and maintain then ur best bet is to buy plants from home depot.
Tip for HD: Sign up for the garden club at Home Depot and ull get emails about special offers on plants like BOGO free or other discounts as well.

Hope this helps! You can always message me if you wanna ask anything about this.
