Port Jeff/Huntington/Hicksville/Mineola/Jamica/Penn
The Boutique mini lines of the North/South Shore should be closed in favor of stepping up efforts on the main lines and improved shuttle service.
We should look to get the Glen Cove Ferry to NYC afloat
(Why not a Port Jeff one too?)
Long Islands population has shifted significantly Eastward over the last 30 years and the LIRR simply hasnt changed with the times.
Im baffled why they haven adjusted their business plan.
They've become a Dinosaur...completely out of touch with the market they serve.(Heres a thought...Hows about free WIFI so some commuters could begin the workday on board...perhaps coming in later.)
I believe all of my proposed stops are within 30 minutes of most homes on LI.

Good ideas, but when would that be completed 2099? I think it is going to be 2025 before LIRR will be able to go into Grand Central much to the chagrin of the Westchester commuters - If the express trains could zip past Jamaica then that would cut 30 min right there.
I say just bring back the bar car it was the only thing nice about commuting on that thing.
It would be great if Long Island had more commuter options. Our whole system is now at best second class when compared to what Europeans enjoy. Even China has high speed maglev trains. What is needed is an expanded system of high speed express trains from Long Island to NYC and more local branch lines that go into Brooklyn and Queens.
Good ideas but remember a couple of months ago when there was all that flap about "The Gap"? The LIRR couldn't even figure out a fix for that issue (which has been around for HOW many years?????) so don't anyone hold their breath expecting them to come up with anything new and revolutionary transit-wise.
Maybe in 25 years if they start "working on a plan" right now.
We do NOT want multi-leveled parking in our small pretty Babylon Village. Fugedabodet .
You guys better lighten up on that Village restriction in the main lot before one comes flying down your throat.
I used to live on Ralph ave and that main lot would be totally empty at rush hour.
Parking would be spilling over into all the sidestreets...thats wrong too.
(Most of those people were coming in from W Islip.)
Im sure Ronkonkoma didnt want one either, but when youre a hub....theres a trade off for convenience.
You cant NIMBY it away...thats the lifeline to the money that pays the taxes.
