Looks like the casino idea might be scratched (going to Belmont possibly), to make way for a world-class sports and entertainment center to be built; a smaller version of the lighthouse project was mentioned as a possibility.
It was announced. $400m bond referendum to rebuild the coliseum plus a smaller bond to build a minor league ballpark. Not sure how any of that represents a "world class sports and entertainment center." Just more LI idiocy, dumping on the taxpayers instead of letting private development put their money on the table. Glad we'll have a nice new arena, too bad no one will be able to afford to go to a game. The minor league park should do well, they always do cause they're cheap, fun and user-friendly (and baseball has a much larger demographic on LI). I'm just disgusted by the way nothing ever changes here. Can't wait til Kate and Ed take pictures at the groundbreaking, all smiles at their stellar leadership. Jackasses.
But now somehow the taxpayers can afford a $400 million dollar bond to fund an instrument so a multibillionaire can get even richer?
The right of late has been all about enriching corporations and the wealthy at the expense of the poor and middle class. This move should come as no surprise.

Of late?
I think you can say that at least as far back as Reagan.
Mangano: "intention and plan is for this to not cost the taxpayers a dime."
He also has a nice bridge for sale!
