A part of me agrees but I am not sure if you saw my other "long" post. Its a choice between a crappy situation and a leap of faith.
I see you are in VS, is that right? What is your price range? Not many apts are accepting of dogs, at least in my experience. We are down in Cedarhurst and had to look for a while to find a place that allowed a dog. Our 1BR costs us 1200/mo. Knowing your price range and preferences will be a big help.
I am really biased against room shares: they place a large burden on everyone in the situation, as well as the neighbors, etc.
Wait a second. Does the whole house not have a kitchen, or is she offering to put in a second kitchen for the rest of the house? That is far from legal, I doubt it is going to even be up to code...
Yes I am currently in Valley Stream. I am looking for something around $1100 but it also depends on the utilities. The town really isn't an issue, I would just need to see how far away from work it it, I work in Farmingdale. It would be for 2 people but we are not opposed to sharing a room or even a studio. Again, its more about getting out of this situation with my uncle. All the money I make goes towards the house and its not like I am getting anything once its sold. In the meantime, my credit gets worse and I can't save up money for when it is sold to move with.
The house has her kitchen on the first floor but nothing on the second which would be our living area.
And shes not putting in another kitchen. Maybe down the road once we see everything has "calmed down" we might revisit that and add a small electric stove but as of right now, no kitchen on second floor.

imo this is a dealbreaker. why would you want to rent a place where you can't even boil water easily?
Because I really don't cook much at all, I am going to have a REALLY hard time finding someone who is going to accept 5 dogs and I am going into financial ruin taking care of this VS house.

5 dogs @ 1100/mo.... that is not going to happen. most apts won't even accept more than 1 dog < 30lbs.
Exactly and this woman is willing to; its a risk. I am not denying that but again, what are my options here? My uncle is unwilling to work out anything with me in terms of utilities or anything! Its either take this or stay and continue having problems with him money wise, utility wise, just everything.

Without your own kitchen, I don't think it's an "illegal apartment." I think it's a house share with the owner of the house living on the premises.
You have to decide how much you trust this lady and if you can live without having a kitchen.
I sympathize about the pets and how hard it is to find a place willing to accept 1 dog, let alone 5.
I can see why you'd want to get out from under your current situation also.
