more fear mongering from people who don't actually live in Hicksville. The only "shady" place is the LIRR station at night. And still, my wife has gotten off the train at night into my waiting car and I didn't witness anything weird or feel any danger whatsoever. I think people are comparing to quiet suburban towns where there is little to no pedestrian activity and everyone is either hidden in a store, in their car, or in their house. Of course it's going to appear more like Queens to them. Reality is there are plenty of people getting off the train with you and there is never a time you'd feel unsafe. As to the other comment about the part of Hicksville bordering Levittown being run down... appearances can be deceiving. You have plenty of hard-working middle class folks going about their quiet everyday lives just the same. The houses aren't as well kept with freshly cut-by-contractor lawns or painted sidings but at the same time there are no obvious vacancies or boarded-up houses like you make it seem. Welcome to an actual populated town of 40k... it's not your avg suburban town of quiet streets with half that population.

One other thing, I actually worked in that building where Chemical Bank used to be. They were taken over and god knows why it's nearly empty now. Lease costs? I have worked from home for a Fortune 15 company for god-knows how many years now because of lease costs on LI (Melville).

W.John street is the area in Hicksville to stay away from, esp west of the Post Office. Pretty much what happened is the garbage from New Cassel crossed the parkway. Just go to Cantiage Park and see the illegals playing soccer there.
Fortunately they dont hang out at Broadway Mall that much.

I lived in the area bordering Levittown. It is actually probably one of the nicer areas of Hicksville.. S. Broadway looks a little run-down (but it's not dangerous at all- appearances can be deceiving) but the neighborhoods themselves are nice.
On the other hand, I lived near Huntington Station most of my life (and still do), so what I use to qualify an area as "run-down" or "sketchy" is probably a little more selective than what other people might use.

I wouldn't say that Hicksville is as nice as Oyster Bay/East Norwich. It's more like surrounding communities such as Levittown and Bethpage, only Indian instead of working/middle class white. Not a bad place, I would say it falls into the middle of the pack in terms of places on LI go.

Not even remotely close to Oyster Bay.

I think Bethpage is nicer...much less dense.

Maybe Levittown.

I'd agree that Bethpage is nicer.
In fact, much of the nice things which I thought were part of Hicksville.. I later learned were actually part of Bethpage.
Anything east of S. Broadway isn't Hicksville.. I think..

Hicksville is gone? Dang and I have a doctors appointment there today. Looks like that is canceled.

Is anyone searching for it? Does anyone know where it went? Ok, who went and insulted Hicksville? It probably got so upset that it just up and left.

Let's put out an APB. Be on the lookout for the hamlet of Hicksville.

When clicking the above link to see a map of the Hamlet of Hicksville in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, bear in mind, the Hamlet of Hicksville (4,359 acres) has a different border than does the "Hicksville, NY 11801" ZIP Code postal zone (4,233 acres): places with a "Hicksville, NY 11801" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Hicksville are in the Hamlet of Jericho and the Hamlet of Bethpage; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Hicksville that have a "Bethpage, NY 11714", "Jericho, NY 11753" and "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address.
