With Halloween right around the corner, will anyone be going to get a good scare? I know there's usually a spooky walk in middle suffolk at a boy scout camp that's usally pretty good. But honestly, the best I've seen weren't on the island. The Headless Horseman in Ulster is VERY good and Lake Compounce in Darien, CT really does is right.

Does anyone else indulge in the scares?

I did one in Laurel delaware 2 years ago and it was sponsored by the local fire department. It was $8.00 and the money went to the local schools. We had to walk through a cornfield in the pitch black, then into an abandoned school bus which then led us to the haunted house. it was fun. I know bayville usually has the scream park. There is another haunted attraction in delaware up north not sure the name but it has 6 different attractions to choose from or you can do all of them for $50.00 per person. We would have gone to that one but at the time we just decided to do the smaller one in Laurel since we were visiting a family member there. Look online and you will find tons of haunted attractions. West Islip does one and I believe the proceeds go to cancer research. Most local fire departments do it too. Out east I beleive there is a haunted corn maze.

I had a bad experience at A Haunted House one a few years back..maybe Bayville or another one in Nassau at some firehouse, I can't remember.

Anyway, some porky little *******y teenager they had working in the "evil" clown strobe light room started pushing my friends, my wife, and I. Almost knocked my wife over.

I took a run from across the room, summoning my long dormant middle school football skills, and leveled the kid with a shoulder to the chest. He flew about 6 feet across the room, I can still see the look on his face now.

We got out of there quick before any of his goony Vol firefigher buddies got wind of it. True story. When you go into these haunted houses, they often say "don't touch us and we won't touch you." Apparently this memo didn't get to fat boy in the ICP makeup.

Good he deserved what he got. In the one in delaware I must say as dark, and foggy and all the strobe lights the people working in the house were very helpful in making sure we did not trip and fall. Does anyone remember the haunted house in Great Adventure? it scared the hell out me as a kid.

Do you remember the incident where some kids died in a fire in that haunted house? I think it happened in 1984.

I recommend a bike ride through Wyandanch. It's very good exercise, free and green to boot.

Absolutey, it was a big deal around the same time there were all these rumours about people falling out of lightning loops.

I remember that. It was in 1984 and the 'haunted house' was a series of connected trailers. My friends and I had been planning to go to GA prior to the fire and had a settled on a date a few days after it. The area surrounding the haunted house was fenced off and the smell of the recent fire lingered in the air.

Eight people died and the creepiest part was that no one had realized anyone had died until later in the night because the burned bodies had been confused with props inside the haunted house.

I haven't been able to go inside one since then.
