An employee of the Macy's at the
Westfield Sunrise Mall has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the store's vault, police said.
Deanna Davis, 47, of Wantagh had been employed as an office associate by Macy’s. Beginning on June 6, and continuing until her arrest Friday, Davis stole a total of $17,560 from the store’s cash vault, detectives said.
In an attempt to conceal the larcenies, Davis falsified Macy’s business records, according to detectives. Davis’s actions were uncovered after an internal investigation by the Macy’s loss prevention department.
Davis is being charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records. She will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
