I guess this is kinda what I meant. Seeing that it's a short sale and "needs tlc" was disclosed, most places like that need to be seen in person anyway. I don't think anyone who would buy a "fixer-upper" would really have much interest in what's inside anyway, if they plan on doing some work. Conversely, the outside views would be more relevant. Not 13 of them, that's idiotic, but it gives me enough of an idea if it's worth a longer look.
We didn't have the Internet to aid in our search (early 95) but we were very familiar with where we wanted to move. Between my daily searches for FSBO signs, word out to friends, and a local RE agent whom we've known forever, we found our fixer-upper. We looked at it from the street and never set foot inside.
There was a crazy tenant who had made the yard look like a scene out of hoarders. The owners were in the process of evicting her. She busted windows to get back inside...total loon. When we finally did get in, amazingly the inside of the house (while worn and old) was not trashed. Old trim was intact and never painted over, door knobs and hardware not stolen for scrap. We did gut the place (it needed everything) and saved as much old woodwork as possible.
Going back to what is bolded, the exterior appearance was all that mattered. If there had been Internet listings then, this old house would have languished.
One of the things I've heard is that people who are losing their houses to a short sale or a foreclosure are DELIBERATELY destroying the house because they are pissed off! That would certainly explain why there are no photos of the inside.
Years ago when I had my house appraised for my home equity loan, the appraised mentioned the same thing as you, cakelady22, when I asked why some items are not taken into account for appraisal purposes. He said that some people in foreclosure will remove anything and everything which isn't permanent or damage the interior.

In a foreclosure, perhaps. Short sale, no. Short sales take the cooperation of the owner.
