I live in Western LI but am hoping to move to an area of Suffolk that is diverse, safe, and walkable. Ive been looking at a couple areas such as Coram, Bellport, Mastic and Port Jefferson Station. I want to know where to avoid as rental places as well as which areas are upcoming.

I'd avoid bellport unless you are pretty far south. Definitely south of association but near south country rd would be the best part of the area. In coram most of the complexes are nice but i'd avoid homestead village. Avoid mastic entirely. In port jefferson station just avoid anything near the train station and any great lake street. Personally I think the north part of coram is the best of these and north isle village is nice and reasonably priced.

You're on the wrong long island, you want to find another long island that has no people....or a short island

I would stay away from suffolk unless they get a REAL police commissioner who is going to change things. . .

If you really want to walk around safely try brooklyn they have cops on every corner now, it's so safe you can be on forums like this on your ph and not paying attention...

I have family near there; I think patchogue has past its bottom and is on the way up. There are a lot of improvements being made.

Nothing on this island is IMPROVING, you sound like news 12.... unemployment is down, right, when you run thru your unemployment benefits you're no longer on unemployment, but that does not mean its better.

You have to look around

So negative, Lima. Compared to 10 years ago, patchogue is better. They have at least acknowledged some problems and tried to address them.
