I was looking up the Nassau county taxes of a home on mynassauproperty.com and was surprised to see that on one of the tax rate codes a higher assessed value was used ???
We've been looking to buy a home in Nassau for the past 8 months or more and I use this site often but this is the first time I've seen this- can this be right ?

Any idea ?

Is it possible the house was renovated and the COs have either not been issued or recently issued and all the assessments have not caught up? When we renovated our house, the county was out there quick wanting to see the work we had done, county taxes raised accordingly. But we didn't close out the permits and get the COs till 4 years later, so other taxes (like the village) hadn't gone up yet. Not sure if that makes any sense, but it's all I can think of.

I checked the previuos year taxes and same thing also checked the date of last (recorded) renovation and it states 1964 BUT as you said this could be a possibility. Odd however - the higher assessed value would be what I would expect for a home quite a bit larger and on the same size plot of land.

Hmmmm. I've not been in the house but the agent states that it needs quite a bit of updating so I'm thinking this assessed rouge value may an error - can it be, I dare say ??

Sometimes the "last renovated" is in error - I had a neighbor's whose recents (2005) isn't recorded but I know she has the CO and everything because of all the trials and tribulations she went thru to get it. Her taxes also reflect it. But it sounds like this one isn't in error if the agent says it needs work.
