1. What if that isn't a choice, which it isn't for some.
2. What if living at home at 23 is pathetic? Which it is.
We all make different choices in life. If you think living with your parents at 23 is pathetic, or if you can't live with your parents for whatever reason, then don't. If you need to save some money and can tolerate living with your parents, then swallow your pride and live with them for a few more years. The choice is yours.

What's pathetic is throwing rent away in your 20's and then hitting your 30's and then you can't afford to buy anything and you just keep digging yourself deeper & deeper.
No, she is not. And besides, I have posted several times that I am Catholic, and JDawg posted at least once that she is Jewish. I think JDawg is just a very person who cares about family values and has a good head on her shoulders, unlike most other posters on this forum.

I'd like to know at what age you were able to afford 20% down payment for your first home. Or even if you didn't want to, what age would you have been able to save 40-60k after college expenses?
We were able to do it at 24. The idea is to save up from your 1st full time job after college. I'd like to hear all about your success story by not saving at home. Maybe you were not allowed to, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean people who do it this way are doing it wrong.
Now, now long isle, I think you are getting too personal here asking questions like that ... you don't want anyone on CD to get offended and go hide behind the mods' skirts crying because they cannot take it! I have found that even the ones who voluntarily put their entire personal lives on display here can be surprisingly petulant now and again and cry foul when given good advice ... even if they are the ones who bring up their sad situations in the first place for people to know all about. Yes, there are people who actually write up their whole life on a public message board ... and then get upset if you comment or give them advice! LOL! Whose fault is THAT?
