The hard working families busting their humps to do the best for their kids. Period. The rest sux donkey nutz.
"For their kids"? If its so bad, why would a parent want their kids to stay here then? Setting the kids up to struggle here too? Am I reading that correct?

Duh, cause they're stuck. They have jobs and can't afford to move. Some waiting to retire or reach pension and then plan to run like the wind.
Do you live under a rock? You ask a naive goofy question looking for contrived nicey nice answers and then don't get any so you go back to the same question as before. WHY DOESN'T EVERYBODY LEAVE IF IT'S SO BAD?!
Because some of us aren't weasels who tuck tail and run. We want to make it better. If I have to leave this albatross of a house to my kid, I at least want to try to get the taxes down and remove some of the politcal barnacles who are sucking the life blood out of the place.

Summertime on LI, professional sports, distance from NYC, gambling, fishing, good paying jobs, good schools, small close knit towns, music scene, distance to skiing, be in the mountains in 2 hours, wineries, etc.
Yeah I love summer on LI, always have. Absolutely hated it down south in FL...
