Another thought is the fact that each year it is getting more difficult for students to get into the more selective colleges -- some of the CC apps might be students who were not accepted to their college of choice and who figured they'd attend two years of CC and then transfer -- increasing their chances of getting into their school of choice AND saving money paying fewer years of school of choice tuition.

It's a huge district ~2500 high school kids, so you will see more Commack kids anywhere, heh.

For the top schools in the country being accepted as a transfer is very difficult. The majority of schools publish the Common Data Set or a profile that details transfer and regular decision application statistics. It is much more difficult to get into a top school via the transfer route.

It's also harder to get financial aid from a top school as a transfer.

I mean we all know being wealthy helps as you can get your child the best help as far as getting into top performing schools and outside school coaching etc...

But, is there any list that can tell us which top high school can "most improve" my children ?

For example, if my kids are brilliant, and if he goes to a top high school, his result will vindicate their (the schools) stature without much effort (or lets say with normal effort) from the schools side.

If the kids are average, then which school can bring about the most improvement ? I am sure that the top high school list will get shuffled around a bit, what do you think ?
Is there any stat for that ?
