It just irks me to see my neighbors 4 cars with license plates from another state (New Hampshire).
They have a house there but they live here year round. Isn't this insurance fraud? Should they be reported?

Seriously though...don't you have more important things to worry about? Try reading up on global warming, differential equations et al. lol!

Include in your reading the definitions of domicile and residence. They are different.

What sort of insurance fraud would that be? They have a home in another state, are they supposed to change their plates every time they go from one state to the other? Besides, why is this a concern of yours? Does it really impact your daily life that much? Think of it this way, you have a head start on counting out of state license plates when true boredom sets in.

If they own a home there they could be residents of NH too.
If they're working in NY they should technically have their cars registered in NY, but it's likely they have NH licenses which makes the whole thing a little more complicated.

Basically, they can get away with it- so they're going to.
Benefit of owning multiple places- sometimes you can pick the best of both worlds.

You know what's funny- as someone who travels a lot between diff. states and works and has residences in a couple, yeah, the law actually would require some people to change plates/reg/licenses more than once or twice a year... it's a stupid system, and one would benefit the most from picking the state most convenient and going with it.

I'm not even sure why we have local state DLs anymore considering the verification and record system is all pretty much completely linked federally now.
