The Pioneer Diners. One was in Babylon at the end of Rt 231, my neck of the woods back then, and one was on the corner of Rt111 and Rt 347 in Smithtown. Big bowl of the best coleslaw I've ever had and some great pickles too right on the table as you sat down. I'm sure the food was good but that's all I remember.
Another one I remember and was my mom's favorite seafood place back in the day was Recnagle's. I believe it was at the end of Wellwood Ave. in Lindenhurst.
I loved Scobee's Diner!!!!! My parents and my brother and I used to go there every Sunday for breakfast. My parents continued that even when my brother and I grew up and moved away. My brother continued to meet them there every Sunday morning and I went with them when I came to NY to visit them.
I miss so many of the restaurants of my childhood that are no longer there.

YES! Scobee's! Miss all these diners. The Seaford Palace diner too. It's a Greek Place now. Have yet to try. But will next week. No late after midnight hours though like the old diner used to have. Gotta try it soon. Turnover here is fast!
Resurecting an old thread! Does anyone remember the South Shore Inn?? It's the first restaurant that I ate a real salad as a child! Let's keep this thread going.....
