Not the worst idea in the world. Soccer is likely to be the most up-and-coming "major" sport in the US. Think of the demographics changing here. I don't think it's the best spot however. it would be better in the hub. A casino would do excellent on LI as well.
My opinion- A huge investor(s) should buy out a town like Wyandanch and build til they're blue in the face...casinos, soccer stadiums, water park, etc. ...Seriously.

For a second there, I thought this thread was about Nassau Coliseum.

I remember seeing a video presentation about the stadium in the news a few months ago, and while it looks quite nice, I don't think there's a chance in hell a stadium complex shoehorned onto a parking lot immediately next to houses ever comes to exist.

Couldn't agree any more. With all the concussion scares in football and baseball enrollment diminishing I see soccer keep getting bigger and bigger in the US.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Why not make a stadium here?

yeah, they've been saying soccer is going to catch on here for 40 years. I'm sure it will, soon!

Wyandanch, LMAO....yeah, that would be great for people that currently do love soccer. Otherwise, no one is coming to LI to see a soccer game. Wake up, people....unless it's by the sea no one is coming here. No developer is going to buy up the Danch, the Bwood or any other less than stellar mid-island, mid-Suffolk spot for recreation....because developers usually don't enjoy losing money.

It would be funny if the poster wasn't absolutely serious. The myopia is really just sad.

Obviously they didn't make all their money by being stupid idiots like people who dream up such moronic ideas.

Agreed. They have been spouting soccer as the next big thing for decades. Remember the real NY cosmos?
