I haven't noticed it much either. I cannot stand walking barefoot in the house or outside unless I have flip flops, sneakers or some sort of footwear on my feet. I have wood floors too and I am always washing them. I mostly wear flip flops or slippers in the house and in the winter socks. I won't walk outside barefoot because it skeeves me to get my feet dirty.

Same here. I'm the only person who is allowed to wear shoes in my house.
Do you wear your shoes in your home? Rule # 1 in my house is absolutely no one wears shoes or sneakers in the house!
Zytos uses the word "reasonable" re removing shoes in the home.
To me, and bear in mind this is just what works for me, my floors and rugs will out live me, and if they don't, no one will ever say they had to go shoe less in my home because I was worried about my rugs, so I would never suggest anyone remove their shoes in my home. I of course would not hesitate to ask someone with very muddy shoes from removing them if they didn't do it on their own but that is because I was raised to respect the property of others.

It's not about protecting your rugs or floors ---- it's about all the crap you step in daily and bringing all the dirt, germs, and bacteria into your home. If you only knew, you would make everyone take off their shoes at the door!
In my home? Only barefoot, socks, or slippers. No shoes beyond the front door!
